Waldport Branch Celebrates Over 30 Years of Hosting Free Tax Assistance

Mar 20, 2017

For many of us, a tax refund can be a powerful ally in helping jump start an emergency fund, pay off lingering credit card debt or establish a college fund for the first time. Unfortunately for many in the community, completing their taxes can be a daunting, overwhelming task.

That’s why our Waldport, Oregon team has partnered with the local American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) chapter to provide a place where our clients and neighbors can get some much-needed assistance with their taxes.

Every year for 32 years the AARP team sets up a makeshift tax center in our Waldport branch’s back room.

Between February and April, this dedicated group of volunteers, pictured below, offers invaluable tax help to the community on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm – at no cost.

Moe Snyder, Waldport’s personal banker, states, “The tax service is for anyone who needs it – one needn’t be an AARP member. We see all ages. In our small community, it’s a hugely valuable service, and almost all of the volunteers pictured have been giving their time for years and years. Many were tax professionals in their working lives. Our branch provides the cookies and coffee, but the AARP volunteers do all the work. We can’t speak highly enough of their dedication and hard work. It’s been our great pleasure to be able to host them for all these years.”

If you’re in the Waldport area and need assistance with your taxes, stop by our branch at 325 NW Hemlock in Waldport. The branch can be reached by phone at 541-563-3226.

Thanks for all your hard work AARP!
