2014 United Way of King County Day of Caring

Sep 23, 2014

We're a proud partner with United Way chapters across our eight-state footprint to help better our communities and empower our neighbors. Recently, our Seattle-area teammates were able to join others in our community to participate in the United Way of King County's annual Day of Caring event. This one-day volunteer extravaganza event is a time when volunteers from a variety of companies come together to complete hundreds of projects throughout King County.

This year, 11,800 people volunteered in the Day of Caring event, finishing 533 projects for community nonprofits. This equates to 57,328 hours of work finished, valued at $1.5 million.

Some of our teammates joined with Microsoft employees at Friends of the Youth.

Nearly 50 Washington Federal employees volunteered for a total of 262 hours. Our projects included helping out at Friends of Youth in Kirkland, an organization that is dedicated to helping young people get their life on track, assisting the South Park Area Redevelopment Committee with painting and building upkeep, and helping with landscaping at the Bennett House in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood, a home that's dedicated to working with and assisting our veterans.
