We'd like to congratulate the recent Idaho and Nevada high school students that completed the Washington Federal Financial Scholars Program! This financial education course is designed to empower young people with the essential skills needed to make sound financial decisions. This web-based program uses the latest in new media technology – Level 4 simulations, avatars, gaming and adaptive-pathing – to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation.
Through the platform, students become certified in hundreds of topics in personal finance, allowing them to become more informed, responsible citizens. The 10-unit course aims to teach, assess and certify students in a variety of financial topics they’ll soon face post graduation, including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, and 401K’s. Through our corporate sponsorship, the program is offered at no cost to the schools.
Idaho and Nevada Students Complete Financial Education Courses
The program is currently available to three Idaho schools at no cost and is being used by more than 300 students at Vallivue High School. Recently District Superintendent Pat Charlton, Washington Federal and educators from Vallivue High School honored program graduates.
“It is imperative that young people understand money management principals,” said Superintendent Pat Charlton. “By taking the Washington Federal Financial Scholars Program, Vallivue High School students are gaining the skills and knowledge to make important financial decisions, like those they’ll soon face as they prepare for college or the workforce.”
Students at Las Vegas's Chaparral High School also took part in a certification ceremony. There were about 100 students that completed their financial education certification throughout their government/economics class.
