Job Description
The Information Technologies Department has an opening for a temporary Programmer/Analyst. This position is responsible for modifying and maintaining COBOL programs on the Bank's Tandem computer system under the direction of senior Programmer/Analysts. Key functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Modify existing COBOL programs to allow new features as requested by the users.
- Translate user requirements into technical specifications.
- Learn to use Tandem computer commands and utilities as appropriate.
- Create technical specifications and documentation, designs, and code programs.
- Evaluate, develop, implement, and integrate software solutions to meet the needs of the organization's business requirements.
- Develop standards for program development.
- Assist in any problem resolution as directed by the SVP/Chief Software Architect and Information Systems Officer.
- Learn and use the Bank's data processing standards for programming, testing, documentation, ect.
- Assist with forms printing and handling and other operations tasks as directed.
Job Schedule
40 hours per workweek with the possibility of overtime dependent on business needs.
Requirements
Position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience with COBOL programming. Previous work history as a Programmer/Analyst. Tandem computer experience is required. Associate's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field; or approved equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred. Proficient in the use of testing and debugging tools. Excellent organizational skills and proficient skills in problem solving. Excellent communication skills with proven ability to deal with users that have critical time sensitive applications. Adhere to deadlines. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement, and independently research new techniques that can be applied to enhance those processes. Self-motivated; works well independently and as a contributing member of the team. In-depth computer proficiency with basic business applications is required.
